The Intensive Care Unit of the Department of Pulmonary Diseases at our university's Faculty of Medicine has been designated as an international "Center of Excellence" in recognition of its advanced extracorporeal therapy practices, educational activities, and scientific research. Following an evaluation conducted by Vantive, the center was awarded this title based on its clinical expertise in continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT), therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), sepsis management, and ECCO2R applications, as well as its educational capacity and scientific research capabilities. The evaluation process took into account not only the quality of patient care but also the educational infrastructure, team experience, and scientific activities. The Intensive Care Unit of the Department of Pulmonary Diseases had long been operating as an international training center in the field of extracorporeal therapies. Healthcare professionals from South Africa, Lebanon, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and other countries in the region regularly participated in the hands-on training programs conducted at the center. The "Center of Excellence" designation has validated not only the success of the General Intensive Care Unit at our university's Farabi Hospital in advanced treatment practices but also its status as a reference center that provides training and facilitates knowledge sharing at an international level.
